The Philadelphia Flyers have made some key changes to their hockey operations staff. The organization updated their official staff page on the team website and here’s what we know.
For starters— Bob Clarke, Paul Holmgren, and Bill Barber are still Senior Advisors.
Bob Murray, former General Manager of the Anaheim Ducks, has been hired as a Senior Advisor. Murray, 68, resigned as Executive Vice President & GM of the Ducks back in November of 2021 following an investigation by the NHL surrounding his professional conduct. I’ve been told that Flyers’ President of Hockey Operations, Keith Jones, was the person who hired Murray for the position.
Dany Heatley has been hired as a Pro Scout. That was mentioned a few months back by Charlie O’Connor, formerly of the Athletic.
Greg Chase, who worked with Flyers GM Daniel Briere in Maine with the Mariners of the ECHL, has been hired as a Pro Scout along with Heatley.
Daniel Tremblay, who was formerly a scout the with Gatineau Olympiques in the QMJHL, has also been brought in.
Mike Eastwood, former NHLer for 13 seasons playing 738 games, has replaced Dave Brown as Director of Pro Scouting. Brown is still with the Flyers in their scouting staff, just in a lesser role.
John Chapman, who was an Amateur Scout & Pro Scout for the Flyers from 1995-2023, has retired. Al Hill, who played for the Flyers in the late 70’s-early 80’s and was a Pro Scout from 1998-2023, has also retired.
